Biography

Designer, interior architect and scenographer, Louise Hurth develops a multidisciplinary practice at the intersection of objects, spaces and narratives.

Her work explores how design can reconnect us to the places we inhabit, to materials, to memory and to ourselves. Growing up between the Vosges mountains and the city, she developed an early sensitivity to landscapes and found materials, building shelters and shaping objects from what surrounded her. Since childhood, she has also collected small fragments from the places she encounters — a gesture that has gradually become an integral part of her practice.

Every project begins with a story of a place, and carries an imprint of its territory; whether through the incorporation of a fragment, or an imprint taken from the surrounding landscape. Rather than imposing a predefined form, she allows context landscape and matter to guide the process. Glass, metal, wood and earth become mediums through which she explores traces of time, memory and the emotional dimension of inhabiting.

Her projects range from functional objects to sculptural pieces and spatial installations. Despite their differences, they share the same approach: creating objects that establish a quiet relationship between the user, the material and the place from which they emerge. Each project is rooted in a specific territory and developed locally, in close collaboration with craftspeople and specialised workshops.

The object is not simply a form to be looked at or used. It can become a fragment of a place, carrying its memory into another space, inviting us to slow down, observe and reconnect with our environment.

Each piece is unique, while belonging to an ongoing exploration of matter, territory, memory and the ways we inhabit the world.
