Description

The wall cabinet by Atelier Nuanda, made of natural, light and reflective aluminium sheet, is folded and shaped into a modular element. Its shape allows it to be developed and installed transversally, thus decorating walls and composing new sinuous storage. Enriching and decorating the cabinet is the leather weave of the atelier’s workmanship, characterised by a dense, light and resistant weave that is extremely flexible and elastic in use and hold, which becomes a structural and flexible joint, allowing the door to be opened thanks to a customised hinge system.

The flexibility of leather and the lightness of aluminium allow a new mechanical and functional detail to be defined in a decorative manner. The geometric motif on the aluminium surface emphasises the sinuosity of the shapes, giving rhythm to the modularity of each panels, enriching it with details and becoming the distinctive signature of the atelier. On the inside, the surface has a contrasting matt finish to emphasise the texture of the leather and the rhythm of the brass spheres that unite the two materials.

Three compartments dedicated to home and personal care make up the cabinet, for a piece of furniture that changes over time, along with the needs of the user.

This modular furniture can be customised with different skins to meet customer requirements.

Atelier Nuanda is a place where tradition and craftsmanship meet. Cecilia Rinaldi, designer and textile artist, founded the atelier with her husband in 2022 with an unconventional vision of design. The creative approach combines experimentation between different disciplines, a focus on design and craftsmanship: a vision in which the contemporary combines harmoniously with a past that is still alive, made up of ancient traditions and techniques. The atelier has developed an innovative leather processing technique, which enables the creation of light and original artefacts. From the weave, a new knitted textile structure is created: a leather weave that can be used as a supporting and decorative element at the same time, and is suitable as a base or covering for fashion accessories, furniture and decorative artefacts. The design process aims to promote the sustainable production of unique and commissioned pieces that combine functionality and design, through the theme of craftsmanship. In September 2024, the atelier won the third edition of the Starhotels Prize “La Grande Bellezza - The Dream Factory” award with the work Amphora. During its participation in the sixth edition of EDIT Napoli, in October 2024, the Plĭco divider received the award of the SEMINARIO section, as the winner for the best new product. In March 2025, the atelier has been chosen by AD Italia as on of the best emerging design studio of the year.
