Each one-of-a-kind Venus lamp by artist Sarah Tracton is thoughtfully handcrafted through multiple stages to honour the unique nuances of its porcelain surface. These lamps are distinguished by their luminous qualities, achieved by incorporating iridescent colours into the porcelain. The result is a radiant and otherworldly translucency when illuminated from within.
Sarah begins by pouring porcelain slip onto a plaster slab to form architectural clay sheets. These are then carefully shaped, rolled, hand-sanded, glazed, and dried slowly before being fired twice at 1280°C. The result is a seamless fusion of fine art and functional elegance. This lamp emits stunning luminosity that is diaphanous, infused with iridescent red tones that radiate an otherworldly glow when lit.
Made in Melbourne with a zero-waste process, this lamp is handcrafted from 100% Australian porcelain. Its LED strips, electrical components, and hardware are all sourced locally to minimise environmental impact, ensuring a responsible and sustainable creation. Good for the planet.
