Solid Beige Stone Floor Vase – Archa Series in Cast stone by Donatas Zukauskas
A sculptural floor vase in cast-stone composite — solid, heavily textured, and unrepeatable. Its beige surface looks like raw concrete or quarried stone, yet the body is lighter than real stone, faintly elastic, and sealed for life indoors. What passes for volcanic rock is really the third life of wood: cardboard and paper pulp reworked, over years of experiment, into something durable and frankly archaic.
Worked entirely by hand and built up in fine layers, each vessel takes its own path as it dries — pressure, timing, and the material’s own behaviour all leave a mark. The mix of recycled paper pulp, organic cement, and mineral binder was settled only after long trial and error, the aim being a skin that shrugs off water and knocks while still reading as genuine geological stone. The result: every example finishes a little differently from the last.
Nothing here tries to hide the material’s nature. Cracks, shifting surfaces, and texture you can’t predict aren’t defects — they’re the intent. Imperfection as a way to create beauty.
