Soft Ply Sconce is a dimmable, versatile lamp made from eyed birch veneer, brass fittings, and an American black cherry base. Designed to work both as a wall lamp and a table lamp, it brings the Soft Ply collection into a smaller, more adaptable format for domestic interiors.
The lamp is built around a thin veneer shade, shaped to create a warm and soft diffusion of light. The natural eye-like markings of the birch veneer give each piece a subtle variation, making every lamp slightly different, while brass fittings add precise detail and the cherry-wood base brings depth, warmth and contrast.
The piece expands Sheyang Li‘s ongoing research into veneer as more than a decorative surface — in the Soft Ply series, veneer becomes a structural and spatial material: it bends, filters light, and defines the character of the object.
Its dual function allows it to sit on a shelf, bedside table, or desk, or to be mounted directly on the wall as a sconce. Supplied with a black cable; compatible for use in any country, with cable length, colour, veneer shape and wood species all customisable on request.
