An exploration in lost foam casting, Primal Chair by Matan Fadida is a sculptural piece that foregrounds materiality. Initially carved from foam, the chair was taken to a local foundry in London to be cast in aluminum. The details retain the cuts and movements made during the initial carving process, preserving evidence of how the chair was crafted. Named Primal due to its simplicity and honest use of materials, the chair was originally conceived to represent the ‘skeleton’ of a chair.
