Description

In the Glasmuseum Leerdam, Sandra formed a unique object based on earlier mythical work.
Draping, hand-blown and hand-formed shapes come together in an enlarged nature-like vessel. Her colours are translated into a fantasy craft with residual glass and colours from the glass laboratory.

Her vessels and tapestries have one thing in common: they blur the boundaries between past, present and future in methods & materials and show a rather unique way of approaching objects. The senses are heightened, colour accents create intriguing combinations, the visual focal points are abundant but never overwhelming, the material combinations are bold and durable, and the textures invite a more intimate look at both concept and process.

Collectibles with a message and a tailored human experience. “For me, it’s about creating unique collectibles, spaces and intuitive experiences with a message.”

About Sandra Keja Planken Visit Showroom →

Sandra is Dutch autonomous autodidact designer & artist. She is often described as a so-called author-designer, whose designs lie between art and design. She works in various fields, such as: limited editions, installations, public spaces, interiors, tapestry, collectibles and glass vessels. Her work is known as rebellious, sustainable, humorous, tactile, abstract and artistic. With a multidisciplinary focus she creates objects that are about the relationship between people, nature, materials and the natural behavior of mankind. Anthropomorphic tactility mixed with fantasy forms from the human psyche. Keja Planken processes her feelings and messages in uniquely recognizable wall hangings, objects and spaces that make you part of the work and her fascination for natural landscapes. Her latest pieces call to mind puffy cumulus nature forms, like some kind of landscape or coral growing at the bottom of the sea
