A collection of mirrors born from a glacial lake in the heart of the Vosges. A granite moraine plunges into it; the water is dark; clouds drift by.
Mīrarī, “to look closely.” Becoming aware of oneself through the object, like a fragment of a forgotten place, of a time long past.
Before the object, there was the gesture. The first mirrors were polished surfaces in which humans found their reflection in a way other than in water. The pieces are made of black bronze, with a fragment of granite extracted from the lake running through them.
The shape of each mirror first emerges from the rock: it takes form to accompany it, to engage in dialogue with it.
It also opens into an asymmetry evoking the wings of a butterfly: an ancient symbol of the soul. The mirror thus becomes a passage: a place where the gaze turns inward. The image appears only to those who are willing to slow down. Contemplating oneself becomes a moment suspended between the object and the soul.
Bronze, as a living material, like a fragment of deep time, moves and oxidizes, accompanying our inner movements and our place in the world.
Conceived and designed with an artistic approach, the pieces are custom-made. The stone is first selected, then the shape of the mirror is designed to interact harmoniously with it. This relationship between the mineral material and the reflective surface makes each creation unique. The patina also varies depending on the desired effect: revealing the undulation of the surface or the depth of the reflection.
