Description

“Melted V.17” is a sculptural vase in blue colour. I try and work with different materials to explore each material’s unique spectrum of qualities such as thickness, viscosities, glossiness, and transparency. This way my works are not “painted” in a traditional sense. Rather, I let the work grow over the course of many layers.
The idea of making these comes from my fascination with something melting or dripping away. Also working with upcycling, giving something old a new, unique and colourful touch.

The self-taught artist John Nordenstein grew up and works in Stockholm and is current with his collection "Melted". With a desire to make the viewer take a step back to reach new insights, Nordenstein works with changing textures, scales and dimensions, like a natural phenomenon. He creates organic and unexpected forms through his experimentation with different mediums. For example he uses epoxy, polystyrene foam, plastic, and various types of paint. Clear in Nordenstein's work is the inspiration from both nature and industry, in both textures and shades. "I have found nature and industrial areas exciting in their contrasts.
