Description

The Melancholy Incense Burner by Saturday Yard Work is a captivating exploration of material experimentation and design, born from a spirit of curiosity and play. The piece features a fluid surface texture achieved through innovative use of accessible materials, which gains a striking depth and a gothic allure when cast in aluminum.

Part of the Melancholy Project, this incense burner exemplifies the application of a newly developed technique to create a series of objects with diverse styles, juxtaposing raw textures with polished surfaces. While the final shape and form were not the project’s primary focus, the intricacy and unique details invite viewers to engage closely, offering an intimate encounter with the artistry of the piece.

Technical Notes: Made-to-order piece. Each piece is individually made with its own
characteristics, and slight discrepancies in form and dimension may be seen. Incense sticks are not
included.
