Sculpture from an exceptional collaboration between Valentine Tiraboschi and Sacha Parent and The Chitragara (Kinnal craftmans)
Kinnal is a traditional wooden craft and dates back from the XVIth Century located in the village of Kinhal in the Karnataka region in India.
Kinnala Art is a relatively unknown and ancient Indian art form, this art form is a dying avocation with only 25 families in Kinhal village practicing the art of Kinnala.

Those plaster pieces were made by the designers using their “Sand Decor Technique ” (awarded by the Jury’s Grand Prize at Villa Noailles Design Parade 2024 ) a unique ornamental technique of pattern generation using sand flows, then painted freely by the craftmens using their own repertory of colors and shapes.

By linking ancient crafts with current design issues, Sacha and Valentine seek to produce a history of contemporary ornamental creation. Their research focuses on material shaping protocol based on craft and industrial knowledge in order to produce accurate, enduring forms rooted in the heritage of decorative arts.In 2024, their "Sand Decor Project" won the Jury’s Grand Prize at the 18th Design Parade Hyères. In 2025, they won the Paris Grand Prize in the Upcoming Designers Category.
