Guseul by WKND Lab is an experimental ceiling light crafted from multiple spheres employing various techniques. It consists of four distinct components: the black sphere, embellished black sphere, red sphere, and lighting fixture.
The black sphere is meticulously crafted using Ott, a Korean lacquer made from natural wood resin known for its durability that can last for centuries. The black sphere with embellishments features intricate lines made from mother-of-pearl, adding a touch of elegance. Meanwhile, the red sphere showcases the ancient Chil-bo (cloisonné) technique, a traditional method for decorating metal objects.
This piece is a fusion of diverse techniques and rich history, blending modern furniture design with our traditional culture to create a more accessible aesthetic. It represents an attempt to integrate contemporary design sensibilities with our heritage.
Customisable in length and combination of the elements.
