Description

This ceramic vase is hand built with coil and pinch techniques. It has a textured, painterly exterior due to a multiple firing process that includes stains, reactive slip, and glaze.

In the “Figures” series the design of the cavity is the central concept in addition to the shape that forms the contour. The series focuses on individuality of the human form in its diversity and playfulness.

Barbara Jenner founded Atelier von Ehren in 2022 as a ceramic studio dedicated to the creative experimentation of forms and glazes. Inspired by traditional forms and their use, she combines them with ideas of minimalism. The studio's name is a tribute to her great-grandfather, Julius von Ehren (1864-1944), a renowned Hamburg artist known for his detailed duck paintings. Jenner holds an MA in Art Practice and a PhD in Art History, lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
