“La Cauna” explores the cave as a ritual space where art first emerged: a place where cultural transmission and the celebration of the non-human world were deeply intertwined. It reflects on a time when art held no commercial value, existing instead as a means of education, worship, and storytelling, its meaning passed down through generations and inscribed permanently on stone walls for all to witness.
Each piece in the collection incorporates landscapes, features, and artwork from the cave while being designed to exist in modern spaces. This tension between the ancient and the contemporary is expressed through divergences in shape, color, pattern, and subject. All painted works blend modern and period-accurate techniques, inviting us to look back at what our ancestors inscribed on cave walls and reflect on what we may have lost along the way.
