How can we create complexity with simple rules?
This idea has become a concept I investigate over the years and it never stops to amaze me.
Nature does that in amazing ways like the “code” of life, 4 chemical building blocks, the nucleotides, that linked together in a chain, form a strand of DNA.
Humans have also devised ways to create immense complexity out of simplicity, for example the game of “Go” that has more possible combinations than the atoms of the observable universe.
The more I find out about these things the more I want to investigate and incorporate this way of thinking in my design process. With the help of computational design I can see complex patterns and shapes emerge from very few or simple rules and that is something fascinating to me.
