Description

Originating from Greece, the Crinoidea Vase is a testament to biophilic design. Crafted from brown, black, and white clay ceramic, it boasts a highly tactile surface with a homemade crawl glaze inspired by ancient crinoid seabed creatures. The three-phase process of coiling, cutting, adding decorative elements, and bonding culminates in firing at 1050 and 1240 Celsius. Standing 40 cm tall and 25 cm in diameter, this creation seamlessly connects its owner to nature’s enduring history.

About Kallia Panopoulou Visit Showroom →

My creative journey kicked off in London at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, where I studied product design. Despite my formal education in product design, my heart was always drawn to the art of sculpture and the intricate hand-building process. When I returned to Athens seven years ago, I embarked on a journey to delve into the world of ceramics, under the guidance of two esteemed ceramic teachers, Menandros Papadopoulos and Vangelis Magopoulos. It was during this transformative period that I realized my true passion lay in the art of ceramics. What excites me most is the fusion of designing a product and bringing it to life with clay. Lately, my work draws inspiration from the natural elements and textures of the seabed. In a nutshell, “Sea life is Earth’s final frontier, and I’m fascinated by the endless possibilities for artistic exploration through my creations.” This sums up my deep connection to the sea, reflected in my recent ceramic pieces.
