The Botryoidal Lamp is named after the natural mineral texture it’s built from — a surface made of many rounded, bubble-like segments. Forma Rosa Studio grew the form of its shell digitally through code, then translated it into an experimental, handcrafted process of ceramic and glaze work. Custom crystal glazes behave differently across the piece as they fire: folds capture deeper crystalline hues and textures, while the smoother convexities show softer, more even colour.
The same logic runs through the Botryoidal Collection more broadly — fractal-like bubble growth shaping the volume, and glaze crystallisation shaping the surface as it matures in the kiln. Forma Rosa Studio, based in Brooklyn, develops and fabricates each piece in collaboration with artisan glassmakers and ceramicists in Peru, and every piece carries its own unique glaze finish.
