Description

The Ava Flora sculptural vessel is entirely handcrafted in stoneware using coiling and sculpting techniques to achieve its asymmetrical curves and hollow space. This unique piece is hand sanded and left unglazed to express its brut mineral materiality. A shiny glaze is applied on the inside to contrast with the exterior brut surface.

The Ava Flora seeks to convey the idea of blossoming life through its generous form and fluid movement.

Lucia Mondadori (b.1981) is a Brazilian ceramic artist based in Paris. Her sculptural work explores the aesthetic interplay between the organic and the symbolic. In a language of rounds and curves, where brut stoneware meets refined glaze work, the forms are voluptuous, sometimes totemic, and always serene.
