Description

Abundance is the work through which Studio Ēeme’s visual identity first came fully into focus. It remains one of the clearest expressions of the studio’s approach to form, energy, and emotional presence. The dialogue between ceramic and wood is essential to the piece. The movement of the form is held by its base, grounding its expressive energy and giving it permanence. Whether presented symmetrically or asymmetrically, Abundance carries a commanding presence and remains central to the studio’s world.

☞ Process insight: Its sculptural language emerges not from external reference, but from an internal one: movement, meditation, and the body translated into volume through the hand. Feminine in origin yet architectural in impact, Abundance explores themes of fertility, strength, light, and shadow through a bold, undulating outline.

About Studio Ēeme Visit Showroom →

ĒEME is a solo, multi-disciplinary practice with a focus on lighting and wall sculptures, based in Lisbon, Portugal.Rooted in ceramics, the work of the studio branches out into metal, leather, and wood out of an intention to balance a design or out of curiosity from its founder and ceramicist, Marie-Laure Davy. The studio started in 2021 and created a sculptural language of depth and abundance exploring void, not as absence, but as a place of emergence.Marie-Laure Davy is a self-taught ceramicist and designer, originally from a remote, mountainous countryside in France. She practiced dance and model drawing alongside a career in advertising in New York for more than 10 years, before turning to ceramics through a year-long intensive program at Arco in Lisbon, Portugal, after relocating. Her process and forms emerge from a continuous practice of meditation, dance, writing, and being immersed in the ocean and forest rather than from visual references. Across the practice, objects are conceived in close relation to architecture and to the emotional register of space. Rather than operating as stand-alone sculptures, they ask how an object can alter perception of a place through its material presence, its scale, and its relation to light and shadow.
