Description

Abundance is a collection of handcrafted ceramic and wood wall sculptures by Studio Ēeme, originally commissioned for a private residence in France. Each piece embodies a dynamic sense of movement, exploring the interplay of light and shadow through the fusion of wood and ceramics. In this particular piece, Studio Ēeme played with lightly contrasted tones, with the marriage of oak and toffee stoneware highlighted by a white Porcelain and stoneware waves.

About Studio Ēeme Visit Showroom →

ĒEME is a solo, multi-disciplinary practice with a focus on lighting and wall sculptures, based in Lisbon, Portugal.Rooted in ceramics, the work of the studio branches out into metal, leather, and wood out of an intention to balance a design or out of curiosity from its founder and ceramicist, Marie-Laure Davy. The studio started in 2021 and created a sculptural language of depth and abundance exploring void, not as absence, but as a place of emergence.Marie-Laure Davy is a self-taught ceramicist and designer, originally from a remote, mountainous countryside in France. She practiced dance and model drawing alongside a career in advertising in New York for more than 10 years, before turning to ceramics through a year-long intensive program at Arco in Lisbon, Portugal, after relocating. Her process and forms emerge from a continuous practice of meditation, dance, writing, and being immersed in the ocean and forest rather than from visual references. Across the practice, objects are conceived in close relation to architecture and to the emotional register of space. Rather than operating as stand-alone sculptures, they ask how an object can alter perception of a place through its material presence, its scale, and its relation to light and shadow.
