Description

As if a branch had grown into a spoon, this hand-formed borosilicate glass piece brings a touch of nature to the table. Its winding handle, delicate bumps, and fluid curves capture the beauty of something growing freely, without following a perfect shape.

Somewhere between a spoon and a small sculpture, each piece is one of a kind, turning a simple everyday gesture into a playful little ritual.

About Serim Kwack Visit Showroom →

Serim Kwack is a South Korean artist and designer based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. With a background in Ceramic and Glass Art in Seoul, and a Master's degree in Contextual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven, Kwack's practice brings together hands-on craftsmanship, material experimentation, and research-led thinking. Her education has shaped an approach that moves between functional design and artistic expression, questioning not only how objects are made and used, but also what they reveal about the environments and people around them. Her work often begins with an interest in things that are easily forgotten, overlooked, or left behind. Fragments of broken glass, traces of domestic objects, and ordinary architectural elements become starting points for exploring transformation, memory, and the relationship between absence and presence. Through techniques such as glassblowing, kiln casting, slumping, and ceramic processes, she experiments with the physical possibilities of materials, allowing unexpected forms and imperfections to become part of the final work.Rather than separating function from expression, Kwack approaches objects as small sculptures that can exist within everyday life. Her work embraces fragility, spontaneity, and subtle humour, often finding character in irregular shapes and unconventional details. By reimagining familiar materials and forms, she seeks to create objects that feel both strange and recognizable, encouraging a more attentive and imaginative relationship with the things we live alongside.
