Soft memory is a one-of-a-kind sculptural ceramic vase by Lebanese-born, Barcelona-based artist and designer Hania Jneid. It belongs to her Fragile Memory series, a body of collectible design that explores how objects hold emotion, belonging, and the traces of what we are afraid to lose.
Each vessel is hand-built, and its surface keeps the marks of the maker’s hands. The organic, stacked silhouette rises from a white footed base into a full, softly folded shoulder and finishes in an undulating rim. Layered glazes in deep coral red, rose, and milky white run down the body like weathered stone or a fading fresco. Gold luster traces the rim and the base, and fine gold drips fall across the surface like quiet tears or lines of repair.
The piece sits between functional vase and sculpture. It works as a statement object on a console, shelf, or dining table, and it holds its own in a curated interior or a collection of contemporary studio ceramics. Jneid draws on Levantine and Andalusian heritage and on themes of displacement and cultural memory, and she designs each object to carry a story into the space it inhabits.
