This vase was sculpted by hand by the artists and painted with underglaze to achieve an organic flesh look.
Born from the depths of a 2016 cult Reddit narrative, “The Interface Series” envisions a bleak alternate reality where human bodies are transformed into “flesh interfaces”: organic portals to the unknown. Created by a mysterious author battling addiction and isolation, the story blurs the line between fiction and reality, stripping away the sacredness of the human form to build a grotesque infrastructure of meat and trauma.
“Carn” (Occitan for flesh) pulls this digital ghost from the internet and binds it to the physical world. Using clay, a somatic medium that can be torn, scarred, and distorted just like the bodies in the story. This collection freezes the monstrous metamorphosis in time. Firing the clay captures the interface in a permanent transitional state, allowing us to physically touch the narrative’s profound sadness without letting it consume us.
