Description

Life isn’t a path that moves in a straight line.
Each step is shaped by the trace of a moment that came before it.
And those traces don’t bring stillness — they create a balance that is always in motion.

KHO was born from this search.
Each piece holds a state of the soul.
Each space, like a breath.
That inner stillness before moving from one state to the next.

Its name comes from the final syllable of the ancient Greek word “psykhē” —
a word meaning soul, spirit, and breath.

“Kho” — the soft sound made when we exhale.
A sound that quietly signals something is complete, without needing to say more.
Like an insight. Quiet, yet deep.

KHO is not a fixed kind of balance for us.
It is a state that’s rebuilt again and again.
An order that comes from within — a quiet kind of stability that’s almost invisible from the outside.

This collection carries traces of fragile yet resilient moments from different phases of life.
And each piece tells the story of how the soul finds a way to remain upright.

About Od Studio Visit Showroom →

OD Studio is an independent ceramic design practice based in Ankara, founded by Merve Şireci Kır and Fatih Kır. With backgrounds in industrial design and fine arts respectively, the duo weaves a multidisciplinary language where sculptural expression meets utilitarian form. Their collaboration emerged from a desire to create objects that carry stories—quiet yet powerful vessels of emotion, memory, and transformation. At its core, OD is a harmony of analytical and romantic approaches. Central to their philosophy is the concept of Od—an old Turkish word meaning “fire” or “inner flame.” For Merve and Fatih, Od is both a literal and metaphorical force: a symbol of devotion, process, and presence. Their studio practice reflects a deep sensitivity to the poetics of material, where clay becomes a conduit of introspection rather than a mere medium. OD Studio’s body of work spans collectible design, sculptural furniture, and spatial installations—rooted in slow, hand-built techniques such as coiling, carving, and sculpting. Their acclaimed collections—Kho, Shibumi, and Elements of Anatolia—explore themes of balance, cultural layering, and the beauty of imperfection. Inspired by Anatolia’s complex heritage, organic forms, and the emotional resonance of space, their pieces function as tactile reflections on time and place. Rather than following trends, OD Studio embraces a timeless material ethos: each object is born from inner dialogue, often unglazed to reveal the raw honesty of clay. As their work continues to appear in international galleries and interiors, they remain committed to a philosophy that honors slowness, process, and the sensory depth of making.
