Apolo was designed by Mexican artist Isabel Moncada for her Atomic collection, an obelisk named after the Greek deity of the bow and arrow. Its tapering, skyward-pointing form recalls the era of the Apollo 11 launch to the moon.
The sturdy shade is built from fibreglass lined with linen and lacquered gold on the inside, so the glow it throws is softened and reflected rather than direct; the shade itself is weather-resistant. Isabel Moncada developed her own workshop techniques in Mexico, transforming traditional manufacturing methods into the mechanisms behind her lighting and object designs, and all of her lighting is UL-certified for safety and quality.
Apolo takes two E27 bulbs, running on 120–240V at 17W for around 1600 lumens of warm light, and is intended for indoor use only. Lead time is 10–12 weeks, with priority orders available on request.
