The use of snake patterns in culture and design dates back to ancient times. Snakes have been a popular design motif in various cultures throughout history, including Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. They are seen as symbols of transformation and regeneration because they shed their skin and emerge anew.
The skin decoration, which acts as a natural camouflage for pythons, served as inspiration for this project, and is an ode to the beauty of natural patterns.
The delicate python pattern texture appearing on the simple cylindrical volume creates a sense of richness and complexity. The dark ceramic material has been employed to further heighten the dramatism and pull the eye towards this visually-striking unique collectible vase.
