Rocking horses became an archetypical symbol of a childhood toy and perhaps recall the idea of naiveté and innocence. Like most rather symbolic objects, they belong to another time, yet the idea of riding a horse remains a potent one as a mean of roleplay and domination.
Nana Wolke is interested in the meeting of the two separate worlds, the innocent and the adult, the childlike and corrupt, in one object, as well as the consequent ambivalent role of the toy and its position in the domestic microcosm dominated by comfort.
