Boho seating has to solve something the rest of the style does not. A rug or a wall hanging can carry the look through pattern alone; a chair has to be comfortable first and expressive second, and the pieces that fail are usually the ones that got that order backwards. What makes seating boho?
Natural material with the making left visible, a low and relaxed posture, and enough irregularity that the piece could not have come off a line unchanged. Carved timber, straw, sheepskin, raw stone and undyed textile are the usual vocabulary — and the finish matters as much as the material, since a high-gloss lacquer will undo a boho form entirely.
Consequently the strongest approach is to mix rather than match. One statement chair, a couple of stools at different heights, and a bench that can move where it is needed will read as collected. A matching set of six will not, however good the individual chairs are.
