The MILANO Stool is a minimalist furniture piece crafted from solid French walnut, combining traditional woodworking craftsmanship with a refined contemporary design. Composed of only three elements, the stool is assembled using hand-cut dovetail joints, making the construction itself a visible and essential part of its character.
Inspired by traditional cabinetmaking, each dovetail joint is cut and fitted by hand using traditional woodworking tools. This precise technique creates a strong and durable structure while showcasing the natural beauty and craftsmanship of the walnut.
The design is intentionally simple, with broad surfaces, generous material thickness, and carefully balanced proportions. Its almost monolithic appearance is contrasted by the subtle geometry of the exposed joinery and the rich natural grain of the solid walnut.
Every element has both a structural and aesthetic purpose. Nothing is added unnecessarily, allowing the material, proportions, and traditional joinery to define the identity of the piece.
Versatile and functional, the MILANO Stool can be used as a solid wood stool, side table, or occasional bench. Its understated architectural character makes it suitable for contemporary residential interiors, hospitality spaces, and bespoke furniture projects.
The MILANO Stool reflects Hausmann’s approach to handcrafted furniture: honest materials, traditional woodworking techniques, and contemporary design brought together in a balanced and enduring piece.
