Cowgirl Oxidized Steel Coffee Table
by Toro Manifesto · Mexico City, Mexico

This oxidized steel coffee table is a contemporary Mexican design piece from the Cowgirl collection by Amalgame Studio, featuring a timeworn patinated surface achieved through controlled oxidation. This oxidized steel coffee table explores steel as a living material, transforming its industrial character into a textured finish that records time and use.

The Cowgirl collection, designed by Amalgame Studio for Toro Manifesto, investigates steel as a surface in constant transformation. Through controlled oxidation processes, the oxidized steel coffee table develops a natural patina, where variations in tone and texture evoke the memory of skin and the passage of time.

Rooted in Mexico’s vaquera traditions, the conceptual framework references resilience and independence through material expression. In a landscape where cattle have disappeared, the cowgirl remains as a symbolic figure, carrying the legacy of territory and labor. This narrative is embedded within the oxidized steel coffee table, connecting cultural identity with contemporary design language.

Each piece is handcrafted, resulting in unique variations in oxidation, tone, and surface texture. This contemporary coffee table functions both as a utilitarian object and as a collectible design piece, defined by its material depth and cultural narrative. By Amalgame
