LUNA NOVA
is a table light made from dark iridescent green rooster tail feathers by Heike Buchfelder. The name refers to the new moon — a moment when light is hidden, yet still present. Luna Nova captures this quiet paradox: it conceals and reveals the light.
DETAILS
Iridescent blackish-green rooster tail feathers attached to a hand-sewn lampshade. The lampshade is open at the top and supported by a lathe-turned lamp base made of black oiled oak wood. LUNA NOVA is entirely handmade.
FEATHERS
The bird feathers are a recycled. Since time immemorial, feathers have been a symbol of lightness and limitlessness. By nature, feathers are exceptionally dirt-resistant and durable. Under the right conditions, they can last for centuries—as demonstrated by traditional feather ornaments crafted by native peoples of the Americas and still admired in museums to this day.
