Echo – Wooden Chevron Coffee Table
by Brandon Harrison · Melbourne, Australia

A sculptural exploration of aggregate strength from individual frailty, the Echo coffee table serves to remind us that the strength of anything comes from the sum of its individual parts. A simple shape – exploded, rotated, repeated – this table is a reminder that the biggest things are built from the smallest efforts.

Echo is built of two opposing chevrons – one housed within the other – that echo away from each other in a repeating form. Expressed splines connect each joint and emphasize the perceived fragility of the individual components, while shop-made plywood acts as the ‘keystone’ that solidifies the entire work. Allowing light to penetrate throughout creates an ever-changing array of shadows that grow the piece to inhabit a larger space than the physical work itself. With influences of Scandinavian modern and soft minimalism, Echo table offers a contemporary take on form and function.”
