T–Lamp*S is the smaller version of T–Lamp*L, part of Studio Kuhlmann’s "Shades of Stainless Steel" series — a study of sculptures built from steel tubes that plays with how a viewer perceives them, letting different individual forms combine and recombine as if one object were slowly evolving into the next.
The light bulb itself becomes a metaphor within the series: a stand-in for the "idea" that switches a thought on. Each sculpture is shaped through minimalist sketches, then built from steel tubes joined by free welding — a process whose natural curves and deformations are left visible rather than corrected, quietly pushing back against the uniformity of industrial production. Because of this, no two pieces are ever quite alike, even when the same form is repeated.
Every lamp is handmade and polished at Studio Kuhlmann, founded in 2017 by Hannah Kuhlmann after she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Maastricht with a Bachelor of Arts in Design. The lamp includes an E27 socket and light bulb.
