SALAR is a sculptural candle holder, composed of a sand-cast bronze base, and hand-carved volcanic stone candle holders. The shape is a representation of the traditional process used for the production of salt in colonial times. In Salinas de Ibarra, a region in the north of Ecuador, the salt was filtered from the ground, and pressed into currency units.
ÍCONOS is a creative and ethnographic exploration of the DNA and ICONS that constitute the Ecuadorian identity. The collection is a family of functional and sculptural objects based on the abstraction of Andean iconography and archetypes. It is an aesthetic exercise representative of the Andean region: its soul, materials, and talent.
ANDEAN studio’s practice is an exploration that highlights Ecuador’s iconography and our Latin American essence. New items will be added to our ongoing collections every year, each bearing our equatorial design stamp and a distinct aesthetic.
