Description

The Cross Floor Light by Dérive Studio is a versatile and sustainable lighting solution crafted with meticulous attention to detail as part of the Cross Lighting System. Each module originates from custom CNC-milled aluminum and steel components, skillfully produced in a small artisan workshop in Poland, ensuring a durable and precision-engineered foundation.

The robust metal structure supports a beautifully textured shade crafted from 3.5 kg recycled PETG plastic waste, exemplifying the studio’s commitment to eco-conscious design.

Designed for adaptability, the lamp can be stacked, suspended, or configured to complement a wide range of interiors, making it as dynamic as it is elegant. Its modular nature enables seamless integration into any space, offering both functionality and modern aesthetics.

About Dérive Studio Visit Showroom →

Dérive began as a project and evolved into a design studio, founded by Adam Skotarczak and Jan Gliński - two friends from their hometown Szczecin, Poland. Their work blends diverse interests and visions. Adam seeks to break the repetitive and robotic nature of 3D printing by exploring organic shapes and introducing unpredictability into the process, while Jan focuses on developing a modular stainless steel systems in multiple sizes. The cubical system, named AXI3, serves as a versatile core for their projects. Together, they create minimalistic, honest, and functional objects designed to suit both public and domestic spaces. Their journey began with the Dynks lamp collection, which not only functions as a light source but also transforms in sunlight, creating a floating illumination effect. The shades are crafted from PLA, a bioplastic derived from corn starch and sugarcane, widely used in food packaging. The AXI3 system, based on a cubical three-way joint, was initially used in the Dynks lamps. A scaled-up version of this system enabled the creation of larger and more rigid objects, such as shelving systems, tables, and other functional designs that combine modular stainless steel with 3D-printed components. Dérive's works have been showcased at exhibitions in Warsaw, Eindhoven, Paris, and Milan.
