Light, held as time.
Named for the interval between states, Lapso treats illumination as duration rather than instant. Conceived as a lamp that feels alive, Lapso treats illumination as an interval rather than a static source. Made with Celium™, a Premium Cultivated Cellulose grown by bacteria, in its translucent version, the material shifts with light to reveal gradients, textures, and a quiet rhythm. Lapso is not a fixed object but a presence that changes with context, distance, and time.
Hand-crafted from five sheets of cultivated bacterial cellulose, each Lapso lamp made with Celium™ is unique, a pioneering collectible where art, biology, and design converge.
The lamp is available in two editions: Natural, with a honey-toned hue that reflects the material’s origin, and Humo, a dyed darker variation. In both versions, each lamp is singular and cannot be replicated. As bacteria grow, it forms cellulose sheets with patterns that are never identical. Subtle shifts in texture, density, and tone emerge naturally. These variations are signatures, giving every lamp its own character.
The intention is not to impose a fixed reading, but to evoke. To open a space of contemplation and quiet wonder. Some versions resemble glowing volcanic stone, others evoke warmth, like sun through skin. The aim is presence, not spectacle. A sculptural light-being that transforms the mood of a space, and in doing so, invites the viewer to slow down and notice.
Lapso marks a quiet change in material expression: precise, alive, and present.
