Description

Handcrafted in our atelier in Bologna, Amphora tells the story of a distant time from the regional traditions of an ancient popular culture. Its slim, circular shape echoes the traditional design that allowed for easy handling and practical transportation of liquids. At the top, an aluminium handle makes it easy to grip, decorated with unique and elegant natural details. Surrounding the ring-shaped surface, consisting of a tubular steel structure, is the knitted leather surface, handmade by the atelier. Leather, a material used in ancient times to make wineskins as containers because of its waterproof properties, suitable for storing and transporting liquids inside, is used to create a new textile weave.

Amphora is born, an everyday object rediscovered and enhanced, suitable for carrying liquids and decorating new homes with its unique knitted leather texture. Collection elements enrich the handle, offering a bespoke touch to every piece.
The process aims to promote sustainable production of unique and commissioned pieces through the theme of craftsmanship.

This artefact can be customised with different leathers and decorative motifs to meet customer requirements.

About Atelier Nuanda Visit Showroom →

Atelier Nuanda is a place where tradition and craftsmanship meet. Cecilia Rinaldi, designer and textile artist, founded the atelier with her husband in 2022 with an unconventional vision of design. The creative approach combines experimentation between different disciplines, a focus on design and craftsmanship: a vision in which the contemporary combines harmoniously with a past that is still alive, made up of ancient traditions and techniques. The atelier has developed an innovative leather processing technique, which enables the creation of light and original artefacts. From the weave, a new knitted textile structure is created: a leather weave that can be used as a supporting and decorative element at the same time, and is suitable as a base or covering for fashion accessories, furniture and decorative artefacts. The design process aims to promote the sustainable production of unique and commissioned pieces that combine functionality and design, through the theme of craftsmanship. In September 2024, the atelier won the third edition of the Starhotels Prize “La Grande Bellezza - The Dream Factory” award with the work Amphora. During its participation in the sixth edition of EDIT Napoli, in October 2024, the Plĭco divider received the award of the SEMINARIO section, as the winner for the best new product. In March 2025, the atelier has been chosen by AD Italia as on of the best emerging design studio of the year.
