LIFE CABIN is a collaborative project by Busra Tunc and Jenny Nordberg, bringing together their approaches to industrial design and making.
The collection takes its formal cues from the aesthetics and logic of load-bearing systems in architecture. Each piece acts as a framework for plants, allowing them to become part of the object and, in turn, part of the interior itself. Rather than treating greenery as an addition, LIFE CABIN gives it a place within the structure. Within the series, a single element can take on multiple roles depending on its orientation, functioning as a planter, side table, seating element or storage unit.
A custom joint system was developed specifically for the surface connections of the pieces. Their finishes were created through an experimental powder-coating process in the dye house, with each surface treated individually. As a result, every piece carries slight variations and a distinct character shaped by the making process.
LIFE CABIN explores the meeting point between structure, furniture and plant life, creating living objects that become part of the spaces they inhabit.
