Inspired by artists and architects like Varini, Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, and – of course – Gordon Matta-Clark, “GORDN” tries to change the way we look at furniture. Is it a cabinet or a piece of art… it’s a matter of perspective. From one specific point of view, the strange cut-outs form a perfectly round hole in the cabinet. It is at that vantage point that 3D becomes 2D and the cabinet becomes art, due to the optical illusion.
Each “GORDN” is unique, as the vantage point of view – and, thus, the openings and cutting lines – is determined based on the space it is going to be in. Colour and finish of the piece are variable, prices can change based on this.
