Cypress #2 shares its material story with its sibling piece: Pecky Cypress rescued from a 300-year-old roof of an abandoned building, chosen for the dark, beguiling pockets that mark both the wood’s age and its natural character. Custom orders can also be made in maple, ash or recycled lumber.

Its sculpted form is built around a removable, bespoke glass LED light source with a 360-degree beam angle, held inside a glass tube with a delicately scalloped interior and reinforced with a woven heat-resistant sleeve for added texture and durability. Shown here with a 91cm (3ft) light source, the bulb’s length can be customised depending on need.

Studio Kloak is a sustainable, zero-waste design studio focusing on lighting and functional objects. Part design studio, part incubator, the studio prides itself on creating a safe environment rooted in education and experimentation. All objects are handmade, using innovative building and material methods, from biomaterials to the collection of abandoned buildings.
