The sphere is the fundamental piece of the collection. This unique light bulb is fully made in crystal resin with a concavity that captures movement and lightness in the material. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, shaped by a mould, forming the sculpture from resin.
The three-dimensional effect of the resin, its lightness and even the smell, brings me back to my childhood when I used to play with the objects that my grandfather created. The use of raw materials has been part of my life too; my father is a geologist, so he taught me the properties and characteristics of minerals. Onyx has been used in pre-Hispanic Mexico to create religious objects and jewellery, I like to use “Mexican Onyx” because of its ancient use and the particular green nuances that makes it so unique. For me, the juxtaposition of onyx and resin is the contrast between precious nature and modern man creation.
Composed of a studded collar and a light bulb. The pedestal is sculpted in Mexican onyx.
