Description

Mother of the Light is a sculptural table lamp by Palucki Studio, inspired by nature and the aesthetics of French Art Deco and combining galuchat, parchment and brass. Édition Cognac gives it a distinctive colour and material character: the base is entirely covered in galuchat, back included, hand-dyed a deep amber-red inspired by mature cognac, the natural granules of the skin taking the dye with varying intensity for subtle nuances.

Above the base, two overlapping brass discs let light pass through the composition, their golden tone echoing the amber of the galuchat. The diffusers, covered in natural parchment, soften the light into a gentle, intimate glow, and the light intensity control knob is also covered in galuchat, carrying the material from the base into a functional detail.

The combination of galuchat, parchment and brass draws on the French Art Deco tradition, in which they held a distinctive place in luxury furniture and the decorative arts. Limited edition of 10 pieces. Light source: bulb included, 15W, 2700K, 1880lm. Customisation is available on request.

About PALUCKI Studio Visit Showroom →

Mateusz Palucki is a Polish designer and artisan whose practice explores the intersection of collectible design, craftsmanship and the decorative arts. Based between Paris and Poland, he develops furniture, lighting and sculptural objects in his atelier, working alongside his brother Robert Palucki, an artisan specialising in woodworking, construction and lighting.More than a decade of working as an artisan in France has shaped Mateusz’s hands-on approach to creation, fostering an intimate understanding of materials, traditional techniques and the relationship between an idea and its physical realisation. His visual language draws on the elegance and material richness of Art Deco, the organic lines of Art Nouveau and the expressive possibilities of biomorphism. Nature serves as a constant source of inspiration, particularly its structural forms, animal anatomy and the balance between geometry and organic growth. The brothers’ work brings together sculptural silhouettes, tactile surfaces and contrasting materials. Solid oak, reclaimed and bog oak, ash, leather, shagreen and brass form part of their material vocabulary. Each is selected for its particular character, texture and expressive potential, allowing the material itself to contribute to the identity of each object.
