The IC-19 is a pink day bed from the IC-Series by Dutch designer Josha Roymans of Studio Josha, stretching nearly two metres in every direction. It is the largest and most unconventional work in the series, a sculptural day bed that is playful and maximalist and entirely serious underneath.
Every IC-Series piece is carved by hand from foam and built up with acrylic resin and fibre, taken directly from a single sketch through Josha’s Intuitive Creative Design Method. Nothing rational comes between the idea and the object: no technical drawings, no prototypes, and a colour chosen intuitively as the form takes shape.
Accents of hand-gilded 24k gold leaf run through the day bed, living surfaces that answer the light of the room and shift through the day.
Functional as seating and sculptural in presence, this eclectic, colourful day bed anchors a maximalist residential or hospitality interior as a centrepiece. One of one, this exact piece will never be made again.
Studio Josha makes functional objects that care more about emotion than function. Josha Roymans designs and builds everything by hand in Zutphen, the Netherlands.
