Description

A part of a series of tables.
Burnt in this unique technique, the furnitures display variety of animal-like patterns in different proportions within functional objects.
This is a unique burning technique the designer has developed. It involves playing between different doses of fire and water on top of a wooden surface. In attempt of preserving those moments of struggle, the fire captures a semi-random burnt patterns, that created by the evaporation and resistance of this two components on top of the wood.

Daniel Elkayam (Jerusalem b. 1992) is a multidisciplinary art-designer and image-maker based in Amsterdam. After completing his MFA in Social Design at Design Academy Eindhoven, his practice melds artistic research methods, material-rich contexts, and storytelling through objects. In his work, Elkayam investigates the boundaries of aesthetics and the space between control and release, uncovering beauty in imperfection and transformation. He reveals over/under-looked phenomena and narratives of temporality, identity, and memory.
