Tanja Pak has always enjoyed shelling pistachios and extracting delicious nuts from them. She has always found it magical how something soft, willing, emerges from a crack in a hard substance.
The miraculous shell split open and green and red and white and yellow bubbled up through it, all one life and budding….

The vase is a haven for different types of flowers, for those with long stems that sometimes like to show their beauty in solitude, and for those that flourish in bouquets with small or large flowers.
Due to its shape and the special shape of the opening, the vase provides firm support even for a single stem and brings out all the shades of the beauty of flowers and their arrangements in a unique way.
When filled with water, it acts as a lens and emphasizes the shape and color of the stems, creating an interesting graphic together with the flowers and its own contour.

Pistacchio vase is made from hand blown crystal glass in a very time consuming process. The opening, which resembles the opening in pistachio shell, is cut from the glass and hand polished.

Tanja Pak achieved a master’s degree in art at the Royal College of Art, having graduated in industrial design from the Academy of Fine Art of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, where she is now full professor, heading Glass and Ceramics department. She is creatively committed to sculpture, artistic spatial installations and the design of functional glass objects. She exhibits worldwide and her work isllections and public spaces. She has also won artist residencies in studios and museums around the world, including The Corning Museum of Glass, Creative Glass Center of America, Pilchuck, part of many co and Musée du Verre in France. She has received many international art and design awards, among them two Red Dot Honourable Mentions and the Arte Laguna special prize. Her work has been selected for the New Glass Review four times and was among many important glass competition finalists, such as the Toyama International Glass Art Exhibition, the Kanazawa International Exhibition, the European Glass Context, and other juried or curated exhibitions. In her recent artworks, Tanja has been delving into feelings of solitude and loneliness of the individual's inner world. She has been exposing the search for closeness, the fragile nature of interpersonal bonds and relationships, and the flimsiness of our unity in the face of indivisibility when it comes to our integral whole. She works in her studio in Ljubljana.
