About Mugly.NYC Visit Showroom →

Ilona Golovina's art is a celebration of imperfections, an exploration of texture, and a poetic embrace of asymmetry. Rooted in traditional ceramic forms, her vessels transcend time through a fusion of textural studies and unique clay combinations. Evoking contemplation, they prompt questions about their nature—artifacts, meteorites, or relics lost at sea? Ilona's mastery lies in skillfully playing with the balance and irregularity of form, creating shapes that exude drama.Originally from Stavropol, Russia (1987), Ilona now calls Brooklyn, NY, home, where she embarked on a self-taught journey into the world of ceramics. In her work Ilona delves into the intricate interactions of fired and raw material, uncovering poetic effects. Her process is a tactile devotion, a reverent excavation of forms concealed within raw earthen material. Ilona's work stands as a testament to the profound beauty that emerges from embracing the nuances of nature and the artistic process.
