Description

For the Neptune Jar, Mariadela has designed an amphora, inspired by blue tones, and created a fluid piece. This piece is made with a structure within the classic canons of basketry, but manipulated with traditional tapestry weaving stitches. As usual in her work, the designer likes to push the limits of the tapestry technique to create utilitarian objects.

About Mariadela Araujo Studio Visit Showroom →

Mariadela Araujo is a Venezuelan-Spanish artist, designer and educator based in Barcelona and working internationally. From her studio–laboratory she researches, experiments and creates artworks, functional objects and large-scale installations, using diverse textile materials and bold color palettes. Her practice elevates traditional artisan techniques such as weaving, embroidery and textile assembly, reimagined through a contemporary lens. Challenging the boundaries between art and design, her work explores materiality, beauty and contrast, often merging natural and industrial materials in unexpected combinations. She finds beauty in juxtaposition and in the unexpected, positioning her creations at the crossroads of functional and decorative, traditional and contemporary. Recognized by AD Magazine Spain as one of the best Spanish designers, Mariadela has developed projects for Loewe, Saatchi Art, EÈRA, WeWork, Limited Edition Rugs, Casa Aymat, and has been featured in leading design platforms such as Maison & Objet, Première Vision, Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam and Fuorisalone Milano. Her work has been exhibited across Europe and beyond, including Brussels, Paris, Barcelona, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Mallorca, Caracas and Yerevan, consolidating her voice as a creator who expands the possibilities of textiles within both the art and design worlds.
