Hyphal Fidelity is a pair of mycelium bookshelf speakers traversing a hidden network of entangled fungal filaments. Grown into aluminium frames, a skeleton structure for the Reishi body and speaker components, this hybrid composition expresses a deeply patterned surface of threads and an interior of proto-fruiting bodies meant for absorbing reflected sound waves and damping the resonance of rigid metal thought. With its elusive appearance situated between engineered utility and artistic countenance—steered by the mycelial growth phase—this one-of-a-kind piece sculpts the way we can choose to amplify our coexistence.

The mycelium is dehydrated and no longer living. Keep in a dry environment. Dust with air, or a soft dry brush.
The unpowered speakers will require an amplifier capable of powering 8 ohm drivers.

10th Floor Studio is the collective works of Jerome Tavé and Kyle Lawson. The two met in 2008 while studying at Savannah College of Art & Design. They combined their personal studio practices in early 2018, collaboration being an integral part of their processes. Long stints of material experimentations, and cross-species explorations have brought fungi-inspired narratives to the center of their work. In a time where climate action cannot be ignored, they use their studio practice to contribute to the shift away from anthropocentrism. 10th Floor Studio is creating works that challenge the underlying philosophy of our built environments, whose sterile characteristics alienate us from other species. Their pieces put forth a vision where brutalist, industrial logic is harmonized with warm organic chaos. The unexpected juxtaposition explores futures where humanity finds greater integration with other lifeforms, drawing attention to ecological and social issues, and inviting others into a realm of collaborative transformation. Our fates are intertwined.
