RAD DESIGN’s inaugural edition, titled “WITH OR WITHOUT POETRY, WITH OR WITHOUT FUNCTION”, opening on May 16th, 2024 as part of RAD Art Fair in Bucharest, proposes an exploration of the balance, compromises, and interplay of form and function. Viewers journey through a curated exhibition of collectible works that challenge traditional notions of purpose and aesthetics. Functionality has evolved throughout human history in the realm of objects, influenced by society’s needs and cultural shifts. While utility remains crucial, there’s a growing emphasis on symbolic and communicative aspects. Objects have become a form of personal and collective expression, reflecting taste and identity.
The captivating exhibition, curated by architect and gallery owner Adela Maria Marius, features works with their own narratives. Her curation compels viewers to engage with the objects on a profound level. It’s time to radically reconsider the conventional roles we assign to the things that surround us, and our fair inspires just that by redefining the boundaries of design.
Follow RAD Design’s Instagram for more on the curatorial vision, collateral events, this year’s Romanian and international selection of designers, and all the essential details you need for the inaugural edition of RAD Design.
RAD Design is directed by architect Adela Maria Marius and presented by UniCredit Bank and Kultho.
