From the East Coast to the West, Design Miami will be debuting in Los Angeles from May 16th to May 20th, 2024. The two cities are cultural meccas with rich and distinct histories in the art and design world, creating the perfect backdrop for a spectacular debut. This premiere event promises to be a significant milestone, taking place at the illustrious Holmby Hills estate, a gem designed in the 1930s by the legendary architect Paul Williams and now expanded to encompass 30,000 square feet across three luxurious buildings.
Venue Spotlight: Historic Holmby Hills Estate
The Holmby Hills estate is reason alone to absolutely not miss out on Design Miami this year. Designed by renowned architect Paul Williams, it’s a breathtaking architectural gem. Featuring a bright Georgian Colonial Revival style, luxurious amenities like a Japanese garden, pool, and tennis courts, and vast grounds rich in history, the estate is the ideal backdrop for Design Miami’s celebrated collectible design and creative programming.
Design Miami/ Expands to Los Angeles
Following its acquisition by the LA-based curated marketplace Basic.Space, Design Miami is set to enrich Los Angeles’s vibrant cultural landscape with its distinctive mix of design, art, and culture. Building on the momentum of its successful expansion in Paris, the event will introduce a fresh dimension to LA’s dynamic and diverse scene.
Leadership Announcements
Henrik Purienne, the acclaimed visual artist based in LA and Paris, has been appointed as the Global Creative Director for the 2024 events. Purienne will bring his artistic expertise to Design Miami. at their global fairs. Additionally, Ashlee Harrison, noted collectible design market advisor and former curator at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, has been named Curatorial Director for the Los Angeles fair. She will oversee the selection and presentation of international design galleries and unique site-specific installations.
